I recently installed a linksys AP antenna jack into my Dell laptop by connecting it to my auxilary antenna wire on my wireless card. The computer worked for a few days after the install, then froze and will not read the harddrive. The techs here told me the motherboard is fried but since I worked on it, they won't. I honestly don't see how what I did could have killed the MB. Am I right in thinking that I am a victim of pure chance?
In short, you're getting screwed if you did not- Open the case. If the attenna was external you're entitled to having it fixed. If you opened the case and had to modify something or remove the attenna and put a new one on, you should have read the terms of your warranty closer. You might have to take it to another professional and have them look at it and hope they determine that the motherboard workmanship problems before and not problems created after you did your stuff.
Chances are, you're SOL though. You might have to rise throught the ranks of their tech support until you get someone who is willing to keep you happy and fix it for you.
