Why is WiFi read slower than write

I am running Dlink DIR-655 router and DWA-556 wireless card. After upgrading to Atheros drivers I increased both my read and write speeds. Problem is my read is much slower than write which to me doesn't make sense. Should writing take longer?

Writing I get 108Mbps and reading I get about 71Mbps.

I am using Lan Speed Test utility to run some tests. Any idea why this would be the case?

Thanks for any and all insight.
