I have two pc's , one running Vista and the other XP. I have connected them via a router with LAN cable . I have given one the IP address of 192.168.0.1 and the other 192.168.0.2. Both are in the same workgroup.
I want to share files between the computers and at the same time have both of them go online using 2 Edge Data cards. What would the settings be so that both tasks can be achieved?
Currently, I can do one or the other. I can share files but cannot get to the Internet. If I disable the wired LAN connection I can go online but of course cannot share the files.

192.168.0.1 is often the default address of the router so not a good idea to give the computer that address.

I would let the router hand out the addresses to the computers.

Check TCP/IP Properties in both computers.

Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.
