Hi, what should I change in this build. I`m not looking to pay more then it already are, maybe just downgrading. Buying at Rampage gaming www.rampage-gaming.co.za (South-Africa)

Will use a LG IPS236V 23Inch monitor at 1080p. Bought it for R1500 Special.

Will use it for gaming, uni work, watching videos

CPU: i3 2100 http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/27/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/61/itemid-207
(maybe in to years or so a i5 2500k or something alike)

Motherboard
: ECS P67H2-A3
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/63/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/136/itemid-207
(Will it do the basic stuff, the price is good. Maybe overclock i5 to 4.5Gh, check PSU)

GPU: Club 3D Radeon HD 6870 1GB Overclocked Edition
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/27/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/61/itemid-207
(Looks like a great price, usually non oc is R2000+, any alternative if PSU wont cut it)

Ram: Kinstone value ram ddr3 1333 1.5V
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/97/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/2219/itemid-207
(Will this ram be bad for the system performance)

Case
: CM Elite 370 Window + CM 120mm led fan for front intake
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/34/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/941/itemid-207
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/137/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/1117/itemid-207

*PSU: Corsair CX430 , EPS12V , ATX 12V V2.3 - 430w
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/108/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/2361/itemid-207
(Now, will this handle it, is it version 2 or v2.3?)

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500413AS
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/112/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/1525/itemid-207

DVD Rom: LG GH22NS40 , 22x , Sata
http://www.rampage-gaming.co.za/shop/146/flypagetpl/shopproduct_details/2883/itemid-207
(Will it do?)

Total: R5 380 or +- $530 us dollar

What do you think? If you recommend something then I`ll rather want it to be a downgrade.

That PSU doesn't have two 6-pin power connectors (PCI-E Connectors), which are required for a HD 6870.

See if you can get the CX 500 for a little more from the same site.

It should be a rather impressive system for the price.

He can just use an adapter.

The 430 will be more than enough, and you can use a molex adaptor.

The cpu (65w) and micro mobo are very low power.

I would recommend getting something like a 500w though if you plan to upgrade to a quad core later.

I'm running a 380w psu and my video card uses about 55w more than a 6870. When I upgrade to a quad core I'll need to step up my psu a little bit, but until them, it's more than enough.

Maybe you should actually read what you post. Even with those figures the 430 is more than sufficient. Not only that but if you would have looked at your own review you would have noticed it was with a LGA1366 i7 system that is much more power hungry than what he selected.
Our test system is based on a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 based. This setup is overclocked to 3.75 GHz. Next to that we have energy saving functions disabled for this motherboard and processor (to ensure consistent benchmark results). On average we are using roughly 50 to 100 Watts more than a standard PC due to higher CPU clock settings, water-cooling, additional cold cathode lights etc.

Do you ever post anything that's factually accurate?

The card should come with an adapter and the PSU version doesn't matter. It's just the slot not the power connector.

Yeah maybe. I think that is just a atx from ECS. The adapter must be bought sperately, right? the cx500 is quite much more. It's about R590 I think.

I did read it. But the recommend suggestion did say, 500w. I know the test systems are always supposed to be high power consuming than a standard system. However I'm just stating what is recommended by Guru, a 500w.

Now GeekApproved has showed me you can though, since Geek you are running a system quite similar to the OP.
Nice use of the 5850 BTW.

umm now I'm confused. another retailer has the same sku name and there they say it is 80% Bronze or something. at Corsair site the sku has a V2 at the back of the name.

I think they only have a antec earthwatts with a antec case as a combo. I'm using my phone right now so can't post the link. can you just check there. is that case worth it and is that the right psu in it
