I have the same odd problem from this thread, http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/282545-28-replacing-c...

I'm trying to find a compatible power supply, or perhaps a workaround so as to be able to install a graphics card into this computer.

If I have to get a non-atx power supply then that's a pain in the ass but workable, but so far what I've discovered is that this apparently OEM motherboard won't accept any PSU that isn't manufactured specifically for it, meaning I can't upgrade or modify my computer one bit.

If this is actually the case then I'll just never buy an HP again, but I'll have to return the one I do have and I don't have an unlimited amount of time in which to do that, so a quick answer would be appreciated.

according to JSC, just about any PSU with a 20+4 pin power cable will work.

what HP PC do you have? and what video card are you looking to install?

@dirtyfeet learn to read, he said it was a compaq 8100 elite in the title.

@xenogfan43 is this a slim tower? if so it uses a micro-atx power supply. there isnt much choice in the micro-atx world, but this one is about the best i can find http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/ite...

ultra PSU are known garbage, if you have no experience in what you state then keep your incompetent ideas to yourself. you also fail to realize that PSU will fit in a micro case but not a slim tower. you need a TFX PSU for a slim case
