Can connect with intel 5100 but not with awuso36h

Hi,

I am in range of a non-secure hotel wifi.

I can connect with my lappies intel 5100, and access the internet after going through a landing page, but signal is poor.

With a newly purchased usb awus036h I can connect to with a good signal get past the landing page but no internet access.

I can ping the gateway but not past it, any ideas greatly welcome. I would be bummed out to have purchased this widely

recommended usb wifi adapter for nought.

Check TCP/IP Properties.

Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.


Otherwise could be wireless mode (not all 802.11 n type devices are 100% compatible) or the hotel may be using an older standard - g or g/b.

You may not realise that you shouldn't be using their connection without permission. In fact I'm surprised you still can -- most of these systems charge guests and the password or whatever is presumably changed frequently.
