I built a new computer with the following parts:

Asus p7h55m pro motherboard
intel i5 750 processor
antec ea-500 500w psu
sapphire radeon hd 5670 gpu
and I scavenged a cd/dvd rw drive, a dvd drive and an old 250gb hdd

So the old hdd has windows vista 32 bit already installed and I can still boot that up but I want to wipe it and install windows 7 64 bit. When I insert the installation dvd i get a black screen with a flashing cursor for a couple seconds then the error CDBOOT: couldnt find BOOTMGR. I did some googling and I tried inserting the old vista installation disk to repair the bootmgr but I get the same error. Any help would be very appreciated.

Will the optical drive read the DVD from Windows? Can you see the contents of the DVD?

Is this a SATA drive? IDE?
