CDROM taking a break

I have a CDROM Creative 48X, and from time to time it takes its time (!). For example, if I listen to MP3 files, it will stop a song after 4-5 minutes of listening. The CDROM stops, restarts, stops, restarts a couple of time (not enough to read the file). I eject the CD, wait a few seconds, put it back then it goes fine for another 5 minutes or so.
Any idea?

Hello
It can be that Your CDRom dont like to spinn as fast as it does. For MP3 You only need a 0.5X speed CDRom :) . Test this nice util from ASUS to set a lower read speed.
http://cgi.asus.com.tw/cgi-bin/dl.asp?filename=cdrom/cdspeed.exe (its not the same util that measure the speed, only same name).
It works on other non-asus products also. Its good to my Creative DVD that have problem to read CDR in full speed.
give it a try...

You might want to take a look at a kenwood 72x. I have never had a single problem.
