Hi friends, have a Question, since new cpus are coming out. would it be good to get a 6-core cpu to stay on top of the latest stuff.
or should get a 4-core.

i was thinking of getting one of these cpus.

Core i7-2700K SR0DG
4 Cores , 3.5 GHz 3.9 GHz 4 × 256 KB 8 MB HD Graphics 3000 850-1350 MHz 95 W LGA 1155 DMI 2.0 October 24, 2011 $331

Core i7-3930K 6 Cores , 3.2 GHz 3.8 GHz 6 × 256 KB 12 MB N/A N/A MHz 130 W LGA 2011 DMI 2.0 November 14, 2011 $583

Core i7-3960X 6 Cores , 3.3 GHz 3.9 GHz 6 × 256 KB 15 MB N/A N/A MHz 130 W LGA 2011 DMI 2.0 November 14, 2011 $999

this is a dump question, but 130 W TDP = more higher electricity using ? is it alot ?

i was thinking of the i7 - 3930k , or is $400 extra for 3MB worth it ? = )

thanks for your advices and thoughts, much apreciate it , am finally going to build my new system after 1.5 years. :sol:

These are more for entry level servers and workstations.Though it doesnt mean you wont be able to play games on them.But games or other apps dont take advantage.Thus if you are a gamer better get a i5 2500k then use the remain of your money for a better gpu.

If i was you i would go for the i7 3930k even though i am most likely going for the i7 3980x.I just like its name.I7 3980x has a better name.But for more the price.

TDP is the amount of power needed for the cooling system of your cpu.

++ ghnader...

Get the i5-2400k...

My i7's 8 cores (4 phys and 4 logical) are virtually ignored by most applications.

As i did comment before the best gaming cpu for now is the i5 2500k.But even if you did buy a i7 3960x you would be cpu limited.If you want, wait for the formal review of i7 3960x.If it is a great cpu it would perform great multigpu setups.
