Geforce or ATI? or the other Geforce

i am currently build my first computer from the ground up and 3 people have givin me there GPU;s and i am now in a quandary in which to use.

they are

ATI Radeon X700PRO AGP 256MB

GeForce FX5700U d128M

Geforce 8499GS 512MB ddr2

i will use them for light gaming mostly Flash games and Oblivion.
i have a 600W coolmax power supply and a cpu of some make and model. if it is needed a can pull it off the mother board to check it but as i was given everything but my HD (deskstar 500 GB 7200RPM 16MB cache for 40 dollars at frys).

i am leaning towards the ATI

More about geforce geforce
  1. Geforce 8500 gets my vote
  2. if you could explain your vote plz
  3. You don't say what motherboard you have or what graphics card slot type it has. If you're building a new computer (using new components) from the ground up, then you most likely have PCI-E graphics card slot which would preclude you from using the AGP ATI X700.

If you do have a motherboard with an AGP graphics card slot, and all three of these cards are AGP, then the ATI X700Pro is probably your best bet. Yes, it's old, but then so is the main game you're playing.

  4. i didnt know there were different types of slots for different types of cards

were could i find the information needed?
  5. The information needed is included in the motherboard specifications. If you don't know what motherboard you have, then you should probably try to take a picture of it (without and expansion cards installed) and post it here.

  6. list your full system specs, all of those gpus that you listed are pretty much crap
  7. ok well ill list what i do know

    motherboard: unknown
    GPU: 3 LISTED ABOVE
    PSU: cool-max v600 watt
    HDD: desk-star 500GB 7200 RPM 16 MB cache
CPU: core 2(not usre of that either came with motherboard
RAM: 1 gig (came with the Motherboard
  8. OK the mobo is a P4M900T-M with DDR2 and PCI express
  9. the CPU is a intel pentium dual cpu e2200 @ 2.2 GHz
  10. Ok. There are generally three different types of graphic cards: PCI, AGP, and PCI-E. PCI and AGP are old and outdated modes, so you'll want to stay away from those. Since your motherboard has a PCI-E slot, you'll need a PCI-E graphics card (sorry, can't use the ATI X700 AGP card).

If the 8400GS is a PCI-E card, then use that.
