So I was supposed to buy an i3 2100 today but realized I needed the money for some things. I just read lately that Ivy Bridge is going to release Ivy Bridge March 2012, is this true? If Ivy Bridge would be released how much performance boost will it have against either i5 2500k or i3 2100 (cuz I'm planning for an i5 too, but if my budget would allow)? And how much would an Ivy Bridge equivalent to i5 and i3 cost?

Should I wait or just buy a Sandy Bridge?

Another question, since I'm planning on a budget gaming build how much difference will i5 2500 (not K) have against an i3 2100 on gaming performance? Some say I should just get an i3 2100 and get a good GPU?

EDIT: Is AMD Bulldozer any better than i3 2100 or i5 2500 in gaming?

Hello darkzsight;

In most games a i3-2100 & GTX 560ti will outperform a i5-2500K and GTX 550ti.
You might want to make the best graphics card you can afford your #1 priority.
And then choose the best CPU you can fit into your overall remaining budget to get a well balanced build.
That might, or might not, be one of AMD Bulldozer models - you'd have to check the current prices when it's time to build.

The guys over in the Systems forum can help you put together a well balanced system.

Waiting for Ivy Bridge? That's up to you, your current system and your budget.
