I'm getting ready to build a quit nice gaming rig in about a month but I still can't decide on which route to take, (socket 1366 or 1155). I already have some parts of the system and have been working up to a compleate system for awhile. All that is left is the motherboard, cpu,and ram mainly. The system needs to be as powerfull as I can get it since i won't be upgrading again for a few years. So if you guys could give me some advice on which route to take, I'd be gratefull. And yes I plan on doing the Nvidia 3D surround and overclocking the cpu.

Parts I already have.....
3 EVGA GTX 580 3gig video cards
Silverstone 1500 watt psu
CORSAIR Hydro H100 cpu cooler
All WD harddrives 1 Raptor 300g and 2 2tb and 2 3tb
Silverstone hddboost with 120g SSD

Parts in question
Route 1366

1366 is pretty much a dead platform. Intel has already announced that they are going to pursue the LGA 1155 platform and eventually the 2011 chipset, so at this point buying into LGA 1366 which force you into buying a new motherboard if you ever wanted to change to a new processor. 1155 seems to be your best bet now.

Did you even read the post or are you just trolling? He has 3 580's each one costing about $500 so lets go back to grade school here shall we.... You see timmy one $500 card multiplied by 3 looks like this ( 500*3=x ) Would you be able to figure out what x is in that math problem? Its $1500 so my statement made perfect sense I was basicly saying that ( and here is where I made a mistake ) In a few years a pair of $300 cards will beat out 3 580's from this year. I somehow forgot to add "in a few years" to the end of my sentence so there was plenty of room to make fun of me but you managed to pick the one thing that made no sense at all  .

You said $1500 worth of GPU, not GPU's, so you see Joey boy, it didn't make any sense at all. GPU is singular and GPU's would the correct way to make it plural.

You also left out "in a few years", so that didnt make any sense either Joey boy. Lets go back to school and learn English kid. :hello:

We don't understand "dropout" around here.

Wow you were able to re state the fact that I left that out after I already did good job lol. And if you are unable to read the OP's post and then read mine and figure out what the "$1500 worth of GPU" was talking about then that makes you the drop out not me. Glad you found yourself a job as the grammar police

At least I can admit to making a mistake, you on the other keep trying to prove that there is no single GPU that costs $1500 when that should have clearly not been the point. Or even worse trying to prove how much of a dropout I am because I made a grammar error on a short post typed out quickly wile I'm at work.

Wile your at work? lol

Really, I'm not going to argue with you, I have kids older than you and I know better.

Glad you admitted your mistakes though. Have a great day!

*Oh and I never said there was not a gpu that costs $1500. I said there is no gaming gpu that costs $1500. There's a big difference, there are Gpu's that cost $6000.
