Greetings,

I have an old laptop with a Pentium III 1200 MHz processor, which, annoyingly, runs at 900 MHz. Can anyone of you forum people tell me how to retrieve the old speed back?
1. The BIOS tweaking is no-go, because is an laptop processor and the BIOS is an old version, with no option of upgrading the software version, because the manufacturer dropped the support for it, being 10+ years old.
2. Can you give me a full list of software that is made for home users that want to overclock, in my case return to base fsb, their laptop?
3. The things you need to know:
CPU: Intel Pentium (Tualatin) III EB 1200 MHz;
MoBo: Kapok SiS 630S.

Every answer will be fully appreciated.

I had a similar problem with an old work laptop - go into control panel and the check the power settings - change the settings from mobile laptop to desktop (on mains) and it should do the trick.

However be sure the CPU is not oversheating

if a psu has issues, it will cause the system to have crashes or it won't boot at all. I've never heard of a cpu slowing down because of a psu. from the sound of it i'm almost positive it's a speedstep issue but mcnumpty already posted a good solution.
