Hello all,

I just finished a new budget build using an Athlon II X3 450 Processor and MSI 760 GM-P35 Motherboard.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130560&Tpk=msi%20760gm%20p35

My problem is that the processor defaults to 2.2 ghz while the processor is rated to run at 3.2 ghz. I found out the motherboard keeps setting the CPU multiplier to 11x (FSB at 200 Mhz) hence the processor runs at 2.2 ghz. I can't change the multiplier (I can only set it to "Auto") so I'm a bit clueless on how to resolve this issue.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

You can disable "cool and quiet" in the bios. It's amd's software program to save energy and keeps the cpu cooler at idle. I use it sometimes even when overclocking; some boards will work with it while overclocked and some won't. Normally, the cpu speed automatically increases as the load on the cpu goes up. I use cpuz to monitor the speed; it's a small file and gives you motherboard, ram, and cpu specs.
