hi

I have a uadcore cpu q6600, gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R motherboard, 4 gig ram (muskhin) and a gtx 550
I reacently installed the gtx and configured a raid 0.

Now when i'm playing a game my pc freezes after a +-1h of playing. after that every +-20min.
When playing i do see my cpu reach 100% sometimes and dusn't go under 80%

is the cpu age the reason 4 this problem or are there more things to consider?

I'm asking your opinion before i go out and buy something that i don't need.

thx

With those symptoms first thing I'd check for is overheating. Either inside the chassis directly (easy to test, just open the case and keep a fan blowing at the opening) or the CPU itself.

open the case, check for dust, get some canned air to blow dust out of crevices and see if all the fans are spinning.

Machine is old, possible the thermal paste between the CPU and its heatsink has dried up and needs to be replaced.

No, I don't think it's your cpu. It sounds like a cooling problem. Maybe you could open your case and check for dust, as it could be stuffing around with the air flow. I had a similar problem like that with dust just 3 months ago.
