PCI Express

Hello,
I have a Dell Inspiron 518 with a motherboard that contains PCI Express 1.0 slots. There is one x16 PCIE 1.0 slot and two PCIE 1.0 x1 slots. I want to get a EVGA USB 3.0 host card. I've heard that PCI Express 2.0 has double bandwith of PCI E 1.0. I'd like to know whether there will be any performance loss because of this when I'm using my USB 3.0 external hard drive
