I want to upgrade my pc from a radeon 5570 HD, to a radeon 6850 HD, which has a recommended PSU of 500W, is it safe for me to do that with my PC, or will it fry my system? Also I noticed the generic PSU has a small fan out of the back of the tower, and the corsair (that i want) has a big fan which would be inside the case, is that o.k as well. Any feedback is appreciated.

Yes I am a PC noob, but everyone has gotta start somewhere.

You have a great oem system (if there is such a thing). You should be ok with the power supply change. Draw a simple diagram if needed, and watch your hand position as you unhook the leads to the motherboard, so you won't accidentically loosen anything else when lifting off the ps wires from the board and optical drive.

thanks o1die, I had replaced a PSU and GPU/card on my previous pc, how I will never know, but I need more juice for playing Civ-V and running high end graphic programs (z-brush, painter, Photoshop, and some HD video editing)... just wanted to know if it was gonna be too much juice for my motherboard etc. PS: yes for an off the shelf pc, the HPE-410y is kick ass at 900 - 1000 bucks.. thanks again!
