Edit - 2 adapter desktops WITHOUT hard-wired PC?

I set up the system with 1 PC connected via Ethernet to the router. Can I now move it into another room and use an adapter, or does it have to stay hard-wired to the router?

No you can have two computers connected wirelessly to a router without having a computer hardwired to the router via network cable.
