Three monitors on 1x GTX 580

Hey everyone

I'm looking a using a 3 monitor setup, and at present I only have a single GTX 580. The card has 3 outputs - 2x DVI and 1x HDMI. I've been reading up on it and it sounds like a single nvidia card only supports 2 monitors - if you want to use 3 you need sli.

However, does anyone know if it's possible to just use all 3 outputs on 3 monitors and have 2 of them be cloned/mirrored? So one monitor shows one thing, and the remaining two are both identical. I read a single post saying it might work, but that's hardly convincing. So does anyone know for sure?

Sorry if that's a bit vague, I don't really know how to explain the question better.

Thanks in advance

Only AMD's Radeon HD series video card with EyeFinity can support 3 monitors with a single video card.

You need to install another nVidia video card if you want to use a 3rd monitor.
