I'm getting 8GB of RAM for my new system. There are many options for DDR3-1600 at around $50/8GB.
But I want a model that is likely to be widely available at a good price if I decide to double my RAM in the future. Any recommendations? Also, is it even important or necessary to use identical RAM in your second pair of DIMMS?
My build will be:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks
CPU: Intel Core i5-3550 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($209.98 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($97.55 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Case: BitFenix Merc Alpha ATX Mid Tower Case ($36.40 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($69.64 @ Newegg)
Total: $523.56
And I'll be adding:
-a high performance GPU
-several HDDs and/or SSDs
-a PCI express wifi card
-many USB devices, including multiple charging ports (smartphone, wireless mice, external HDDs)
