Need to connect a new device to my wireless

Hello,
I need to change some settings on my Netgear router. I use the 192.168.1.1 also 192.168.0.1. I get a message that internet explorer cannot display that webpage. What do I do?

My laptop gets on the wireless network through Netgear router. I got a new toy for Christmas, a Sylvania Mini-Tablet. Not a computer just a wireless device. I have been able to sign in at the library and at a hotel over the weekend. Just can't manage on my home wireless. It "sees" it, but tries to "obtain an IP address" and can't. I've done lots of reading on the internet and that's why I think I need to change a setting on the router to allow my new device to access the network.

Also re question 2, I'm working from the desktop that's connected through ethernet. Do I need to work from the laptop that IS wireless? I'll try that!!

what network protocol are you using? Is it WEP, WPA, or WPA2?
