So, in building a new computer for a friend, I've run into this dilemma: pick the E5200 or the E7400?

The mobo is an Asus P5Q SE PLUS and the gpu is a 9800 GTX+. Computer is mostly used for gaming. Not sure about the resolution, probably somewhere at 1440x900.

Since it's a budget computer, I was wondering which one would really be the most efficient? Given the price differences http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072 for the E5200 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115206 for the E7400, I wanted to make sure if spending the extra 50 bucks is worth it.

Would the E5200 be able to work with the 9800 GTX+ and not bottleneck it? Is it enough for games today? Or would it be more prudent to opt shelling out 50 bucks more for the E7400?

OCing may or may not be involved. For this instance, say they were both stock.
