Sandy or Ivy

I am about to buy an intel core i7 2600k processor,i'll be using softwares like max,maya,after effects,nuke etc.
but wait i heard that intel would be releasing its ivy bridge based processors at the end of the year.
i already own a laptop with c2d processor so i can wait for IB,so guys i want to ask that should i buy i7 2600k or wait for IB processors,another question is that will the IB processors will be same in the price range of SB !!!,i mean will there be any IB processor at the cost of 2600k !!!!,plz guide

I would go with the 2500 K series. Newegg had some open box recently for only $133 shipped. The 2600 is priced too high for the performance difference.

if I were you I'd either get a 2500k or 2600k now or wait til ivy, and hope the sandy ones drop in price and then buy one of them. If you're not going to overclock, you won't need a k model by the way.

K's are only a few dollars more, and much easier to sell used than non K.
