This is my motherboard:

GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H LGA 1155 Intel B75 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Its a Micro ATX motherboard and on my case it says where to put in the standoffs. When putting them in, there are 9, yet I only count 7 on my motherboard. I know I should use only the number on my motherboard, but because this is my first build, it concerns me that my case isnt matching up with my motherboard. Any suggestions?

You only need 4-5 to line up; remove the standoffs that don't line up with the holes in the motherboard. Install the backplate first from the inside, pressing on each corner until it's square. And test the board first outside the case on a non conducting surface, sometimes called "breadboarding". It's also best to leave the power supply out of the case until you've tested the board; install it in the case after mounting the board.
