Ati radeon 4850 dual monitor

Hello,
I have an ATI Radeon 4850 HD video card for Windows 7 that I am trying to get set up for dual monitor set up. I have it all connected correctly, and all the drivers updated, but the second screen is still black. It shows the same loading screen as the main monitor when the computer is booting up, but it goes black after it loads and I can't figure out how to get it back.

All help would be greatly appreciated.

First make sure both displays are detected in CCC, then change the display settings to either extended (one desktop spread on two monitors) or mirrored which two identical desktops one on each screen.

This is a known problem. I'm having it too. Basically the 2nd monitor shows up and is detected fine. After toggling the extended or mirrored monitors on, the 2nd comes up and works for maybe 30 seconds, then goes back, still even allowing the mouse to move over to it. It's driving me crazy! Can't figure out why its started happening. I've tried all kinds of drivers even back to the 10.X series.

Someone please help!

My thread, same issue. I'm going to try HDMI rather than VGA, I'll let you know when I get to test it.
