To make the most of the 2gb of ram on my old pc, mother board ASUS A8M2N-LA, can I "increase" ram by not using the onboard integrated graphics? I would install a graphics card with max memory on the card.

I am planning to upgrade to Windows 7.

hello, your motherboard uses DDR2 and can support up to 4 GB
if you want to add more memory, it is necessary that the frequency (eg 533MHz) is the same on all the memory chips. for example: two strips in 2GB 533Mhz.
nevertheless beware, if you are in XP, the transition in Seven will not necessarily possible. (Sorry for my English because I am French and my level of English is bad).
I remain at your service to further questions

I know I can't upgrade xp to win7 and plan to setup dual boot until I know I have everything off xp that we need to keep. Thanks for the reply. Thinking I will go to 4gb and skip the graphics card for now. Really don't want to mess with BIOS upgrades on this old MB.
