My sound cuts out when i change to dolby digital

Ok this is really starting to bug me. SO i got a sound card(creative labs sound blaster titanium hd) recently and hooked it up. and i got to turn on dolby digital so i can listen to my 5.1 audio(i have a reciver pioneer vsx-821) and it cuts out every couple of seconds. so can anybody help me?
