Hi, What I am looking to do is have to ability to boot up a desktop with a bad cd/dvd drive or no cd/dvd drive with a second computer. I basically want the bios of the desktop to recognize my computer as a usb cd/dvd drive. I'd like to do it through usb because there are more bios' that support usb rather than lan.

You can use an external IDE/SATA (depending on the type of CD/DVD drive you have) to USB converter. Remove the CD/DVD drive from the second computer and then put it in the converter case and use that to boot.
