Need help with replacing a graphics card.

I have just started building my first ever computer. I have all of my items here except for my graphics card and my case. My graphics case is scheduled to arrive on Monday. However, my graphics card is not scheduled to ship until mid June for whatever reason on I would really like to get my computer up and running because I will be using it for my college summer session. My question is, do I wait until mid-June to get my graphics card I had origionally ordered, or do I get a different one? This is the one I ordered:

Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 XTREME 1 GB DDR5 HDMI/DVI-I/DP PCI-Express Graphics Card 100282XTREME

I have heard many great things about this card, and it was actually recommended to me by the community on this site. Is there a card that is of equal or better gaming quality that I can get for around the same price? I'd say not more than $15 higher in price if I had to go higher.

Here is my current setup in case it helps:

Mobo - MSI H61M-E33 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU - Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz 2 x 256KB L2 Cache 3MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I32100
HD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
PSU - APEX AL-D500EXP 500W ATX12V Power Supply
Case - NZXT GAMMA Classic Series GAMA-001BK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

I figured the other components were irrelevant to list.

  1. You could always cancle the order and get this... Its not as powerful as a 5850 however (not by much though), and even after rebate+shipping its a couple bucks more.

    But if you can't wait.........
  2. Thanks for the link helltech, I'll be sure and check it out!

I was just looking at this:

How does this compare to other cards?
  3. Its a 5850 and a its a good price! I'd get that one! There aren't many left on newegg, cheapeast was 190 if I recall correctly, thats why I didn't link one.
  4. Thank you for the feedback, but I have a nooby question. I really don't know a whole lot about computer part compatibilities. That being said, is the 5850 link I posted compatible with my mobo and everything else?

To be honest I didn't even look, but now that I have, you should pick out a different PSU! Regardless of that, yes it is compatible with that motherboard.

Here is a much better PSU.
  6. Oops, I kinda already have the one I listed... will it still do the job?
  7. Spec wise it "should" work, but its built from low quality parts, personally I wouldn't use it. :(
  8. *facepalm* Well I'll use it until I can afford a new one I suppose. Thanks for all the help!
