Hello,

I recently upgraded my RAM to 12gb's and now my computer won't start.
After I installed the RAM the computer POST'ed without any errors and booted Windows 7 perfectly. However, on the second reboot, the computer did not even start.

The power led is glowing, so the PSU is working.
The H50 CPU cooler seems working too.
I tried using my old RMA and still no luck.

So I'm something went wrong with the motherboard or...?

Solution

Did you clear the bios after putting back the original ram then hit ram ok button then hit the power button on the motherboard??

Just an update.

I have tried resetting the CMOS.
Replaced my H50 with the original cooler.
Tried booting with one RAM stick.
Discounted the GPU, HDD, SSD, Audio Card, and all fans except the CPU fan.
Tested the Power SW and that works.

Yet I still cannot turn on my PC.
The only LED that glows is the PSU one on the motherboard.

The motherboard is the ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA

Any ideas. Thanks

Chances are if you upgraded your ram and your computer stopped working it's your ram , most likely the brand try original ram ,clear bios and try that.
When it boots update your bios to newest if it's not the newest version, not all ram is compatible with all boards.

the ram led light and the video led light will not come or or any of the fans??? even if you hit ram ok button??
if it doing that check that the 24 pin and 4/8 pin power connectors are on and that the cpu fan and any other power connector is still connected fine. check the ram slots for bent pin. check that there nothing shorting the mb out. if they look fine i would see if you had another ps to see if you lost a power leg in your old ps.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried using my original RAM, and the computer still does not work.
Also the 12gb Corsair RAM should work with the X58 motherboard.
The RAM runs on a 1600 speed which the motherboard supports.

I tried the RAM ok button with no luck, and the fans stay off also.
I also tried my old/working 500 watt power supply which again the power led on the motherboard lights up but the PC stays off.

I might have, however, bent pins on the memory slots. But than again I tried every slot on the motherboard with no luck.
