Restricted Access to network and PC

Hi Guys

A Friend has asked me if its possible to restrict access to a Network Drive to read only(this i can do), but at the same time wants to know if he can stop specific PC from saving files to local PC's, this would be files with a specific file extension, let say .123 is the extension.

all the PC's are running XP, he want to stop the saving of files to USB devices and CD or DVD drives.

any help would be appreciated.

You can set things up through Policy Manager. There are many options to pick from, restricting removable media is some of them.

Howerver, I do not think that you can restrict file copy by file type, at least using that method. And I don't know of a method that would allow you to do this.
