I can turn on my computer but the screen is black, cd works, but nothing on screen. Toshiba Satellite. Any hot key combinations that will reboot to normal?? Please help - thank you. Kathy

try plugging an external monitor or tv to the laptop--if you get a picture it might just be the screen inverter has

failed or the screen ribbon

if its the inverter looking very closely at the screen even though its black you should just be able to make out

the desktop or login page if you use a password

do you hear the windows logon sound?
