Getting to console level graphics will be easy, with $800-1000 you're looking for a system thats like 3-4x more powerful then a console.

I would suggest buying parts from newegg.

I would go for this

cpu: I5 2500k
GPU: 560 ti
mobo: ASUS p8z68-v
case: haf 912 or 922
psu: corsair 650w or 750w
hdd: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3

thats about $850 from newegg.com, just add in a dvd writer and ur good to go

this will play most games on max setting at 1920x1080, which is waaay more powerful then a console

When it comes down to it, the Nvidia GTX 560 Ti is gonna be faster and a lot more expensive. The cheapest Nvidia GTX 560 Ti on Newegg is:

and that comes in at $219.99 plus $7.59 shipping

For the price point you are better getting the AMD Radeon 6870 and plus you can crossfire another one with the motherboard that I recommended. Another thing is that the Nvidia GTX 560 Ti consumes more power.

Also do you have a computer power cord already? The PSU I recommended does not have one since its "green" for that reason. Great PSU tho
