Will my Intel DQ45EK board use 533 mhz sticks, the specs calls for 667 mhz and up? Is this board backward compat?
Thanks

most vendors wont toss out old spec just because they use faster ram. you just got lucky that the board and the ram worked together. sometime it does and sometime all you get is a black screen or a pc that bsod all the time.
  2. Thanks for the info, I will install all parts next week. I just didn't want to hurt the new board and cpu. I will advise after the install.
  3. if your worried look on the ram vendor web page most have ram guilds..cruical has a free one wherre just input the vendor and model of the mb.
  4. http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=DQ45EK&Cat=RAM
they tested the 667 ram in the mb but nothing slower..the ram you have may or may not work. it be up to the memory controller on the mb.
  5. if you don't think it could hurt the board, I'll just try it when parts are ready!
