From what a Google search returns, there do not appear to be any kind of
multimedia controls on the notebook. You will have to use the volume
control icon down there by the time display.

Not true of many notebooks. Usually there are function keys for adjusting
audio levels, don't know about the Dell but my Compaq has them.
