How to check for a bad usb port

Hello,
I have a USB mouse, and it stops working from time to time.I unplug and plug back in, and it works for awhile and stops again. It does the same thing in all four USB ports on the back of my computer. My USB webcam seems to work fine in the same ports. Could these USB ports possibly be going bad?

It is a loose connection in the mouse itself. Buy a new mouse...

seems you pretty much figured it out. if the Ports were bad then I would figure the webcam would show the same problems. you could try the mouse on another pc and see if the problem persist .
