I actually bought that Sapphire 5850 2 weeks ago, but the card was a little cheaper at $140 and the 6870s hadn't dropped in price, so it was a no brainer. Plus I don't like rebates.

But in your case, if you don't mind waiting for the rebate, then I'd probably spend the extra $18. Have you considered the size of your case? The Sapphire 5850 xtreme in particular is considerably shorter in length than previous 5850s and the 6870s. And it only has one DVI, HDMI and DP instead of two DVI outputs.

Hope it helps, happy shopping!

Just to let you know if you do go for the 5850 get this item code instead -- LINKIE --- Same card same price same company to order from but includes a free Shogun 2 Game download key ( and they are 2 seperate item codes so you do not get it with the one you linked !! )

We might get an idea if you post your system specs and resolution, but since the game has not been released yet, we won't know for sure the fps.

Based on what I've read, it's going to be a pretty intense game demanding the latest hardware... which is all the more fun for us PC gamers!

We honestly don't know what it will take to run BF3 well as it is not out yet, all we can do is speculate. You could probably run the game at 1080p with a 5850, but there is no guarantee that you could do it with maximum settings. If you do want to run BF3 better, you may want to spring for one of the 6000 series cards like the 6870 or 6950 as they would have better DX11 performance, particularly better tessellation performance than the 5850.

If BF3 is a big deal for you, you may want to hold off on an upgrade until we get more information on what its requirements are.
