Will my amd 955 x4 still suffice my gaming needs?

i have a 955 x4 stock right now, do u think its still viable for gaming? i wanted bulldozer but im not that impressed at all, i could overclock it, i got a cooler master hyper 212,

what do u think? should i get bulldozer, stick with this cpu for another while? i got my asrock 990fx fatal1ty for bulldozer

whats the maximum oc i could get? i also have a cougar evolution case with all the fans installed

Stick with your 955, overclocking it is easy if you feel the need. People have been hitting close to 4GHz with good cooling.

It doesn't look like it would be worth upgrading to Bulldozer for gaming if you already have a 955. I also have a 955 and although it was performing reasonably well, I did upgrade to a 2500k. There is unquestionably an improvement, but it was $205 for the cpu and $150 for a Z68 board. I don't believe there was a $350 improvement on games there.

My 955 was a recent revision, but it clocked to 4.0ghz very easy, w/o a particularly good cooler, although my case has good airflow. You should get 3.5-3.6 w/o having to tough the voltage on it. That hyper 212 is better that the cooler I was using.

Unless you have a really awesome graphics card, I don't think the benefit would be worth the expense to upgrade.

I agree. No need to upgrade for anything whether from AMD or Intel. You still a decent rig in my opinion.
Perhaps change the GPU if yours is having a hard time crunching through polygons and/or shaders?

i have a 5850 right now, i believe it still can run games fine, but i want to play bf 3 max settings haha, i was thinking on a 6970 and then crossfire it to run 3 1680x1050 monitors i have in my house, what do u think??

6970 in CF can handle 2560x1600...3 monitors may need another 6970

if you really want a CF 6970 system with 3 monitors then I would get a intel i5-2500k

i think i better stay with just 1 monitor, i will wait to see if amd releases their hd 7000 series this year, and until then i might buy a bigger monitor or just stay with mine which is fine, they eyefinity thing is just something i might just try, not run it all the time

increase 25% so you will still be doing over 40fps.

damn, strange to see amd at the top of the charts haha, the performance of my hd 5850 is like a gtx 470 more less, so for ultra ill have to buy a better gpu, lets see benchmarks when the full game goes out

my resolution is just 1680x1050 so i guess it should run anything maxed out, a hd 5970 is still a little beter than a gtx 580 so i guess ill be okay dont u think??
