Whats better and by how much

ive just got the Asus ATI Radeon HD 6970 DirectCU II 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5] havent had a chance to put it in yet but just wanted to know cos i can easily over clock this beast fully so just wanted to know how much better is the 6990 than my 6970 fully over clocked?

the 6990 essentially 2x 6970's on the one card. If your motherboard supports crossfire you would be better off getting 2 x 6970's in crossfire as it ends up being a bit faster than a 6990 and runs cooler and quieter. Unless your running above 1900x1200 res there is really no point in having that much power.

at the moment im running at 1900x1200 and my mobo dont support it but was thinking of getting one that does support it for the future plus a new case because i had to mutilate this one just to fit it in, also heard its a great card keeps really cool.

does it matter? and the reviews are about how much better the 6990 is than the 6970 im asking with the overclocked fully 6970 where does it stand against the 6990 and didnt see a review about it

you already have your answer. the 6990 uses 2 x 6970 chips on one card nearly offering 2 x the performance so long as you have a fast enough cpu to feed it the info.
