Hey guys, I need a new system for my brother who wants to play modern games like crysis, battlefield 2 and 3 when that comes out. However we have a limit of $500. So, i looked around on newegg and chose parts. Could someone look and see if they all are compatible and work well together (no bottlenecks)?

CASE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811121120
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817165024

That all adds up to $522, which is just under the limit. However , I'm not sure about the HDD - its really cheap, but will it perform well? He doesn't need more than 80 GB or so, thus the capacity of 120GB is more than enough. Does the mobo fit the cpu? And will the cpu bottleneck the gpu? Thanks in advance.

nice choice for putting bucks on gfx horse power, but you are going bad with the psu, go for an antec 500w power supply and downgrade the gpu to a hd 6870.

and is that hdd enough for you, go with the wd caviar blue 500gb which is arround 40

and hd6870, go with the sapphire one which is 174$

Yes, but your MOBO, PSU, and CPU are somewhat outdated/low quality. If you scale down the 6950 to a 6870, you will get the same, if not better results on games, since everything else is good quality. That PSU would probably explode after a couple weeks, and jerred's build looks REALLY solid. I'm going to use that since I've been looking to build a new budger PC too!

The BP 550 Plus is a dated PSU, it is less efficient, and may have less 12 volt Amps than current ones. It is not low quality or likely to explode. It is modular.
I would look elsewhere at $55 though.

The BP550 is a solid buy. The BP550 has 3 x 12v rails which are rated at 444 Watts total which will power a GTX 480 or 580 overclocked. how much more would he need. Its 80+ rate at 85% inefficiency
