I built a budget PC for a friend. What I neglected to specifically look at was the fact that the motherboard did not support PCI Express x16 2.0. The graphics cards are backwards compatible, but how hindered will this card be on a 1.0 slot?

nVidia GeForce GT 430

Solution
It should be fine. PCI-E 2.0 cards work on PCI-E 1.0 boards, and PCI-E 1.0 has plenty of bandwidth for the card which you have
make sure that your mobo supports the card as some requires bios update

It doesn't matter. The GT 430 is too weak to run DX11 games. It is not even that good for DX10 games. It is a very weak card

I would get the HD 5670 for $63 after rebate. It depends on the game and the resolution of the monitor, but the HD 5670 has about 40% - 50% better performance than the GT 430. See benchmarks in the above review.
