When disassembling an external hard drive where is the disk
madifbg
I am going to technology school (just started), so I have been practicing taking apart different components from computers I get from the thrift store. While taking apart a Western Digital external hard drive, I did not ever find a disk. why is that? thanks, from the novice.

Everything but an SSD has a disk in it, with one or more platters. I doubt you got an SSD from a thrift store but it isn't out of the question.

Could you post the model number? Or possibly you've just bought the caddy? Moto
