I don't consider myself to be amazing with computers, but I do understand quite a bit of the basics, and I have just recently ordered (for my first actual build) an i3-2120 cpu and a set of 8gb (2x4) Corsair Vengeance RAM at 1600Mhz. I've read around and a lot of people have said that the RAM will underclock by default to 1333Mhz in a build like this, and I'm worried that I'm wasting my money, or not getting the performance that I should be, so if anyone could offer any advice on the subject, it would be GREATLY appreciated :)

And if it helps, this build contains a Z68 mobo which supports 1600Mhz RAM.

Thank you in advance,

Ryan.

Solution
It'll default to 1333, like you know (does for ALL SB CPU's, not just the 2120), but you can either use the XMP profile or set the speed, timings and voltage manually.
