System fan failure

hi my computer has been displaying instead of the bios screen "system fan failure, service imediatly, press f2 to continue" and it take ages with a black screen and the little "_" flashing for like 2 mins before windows starts. i have checked and all of the fans do work, i have cleaned the heatsink and fans and it still says that. also the psu does run quite loud but i have checked it and its perfectly stable. it is a hp m9000 with a q6600, 3gb ram, 8500gt and a 500gb 7200rpm drive

Well it's a long shot but have you tried re-seating the Cpu heat sink?

yup ive tried doing that, reapplied thermal paste, reconnected all the fan headers and reinstalled the os, but it's still like that

I had the same error. In my situation, I received the error because my case fan was unplugged. Hope that helps. I have a HP Pavilion
