The 955 can be had for 104.99 at newegg right now (on sale til 10/24). i5 2500k can be had for 179.99 at microcenter (they've had it there for a while and look to be keep it there at least for the entirety of october).

In my opinion those are the best two for their respective price ranges, since the 955 is unlocked you can just bump up the multiplier to get it up to the same clock as a 965 or 970 without much trouble. And the i5 2500K is just a beast, as has been stated and proven many a time.

If you are gaming just get the 955 and dump the 95 bucks on the GPU

Did you have anything in mind ?
NV or AMD ?
What resolution in your screen ?
How much money are you wanting to spend on it ?

I don't know your budget or monitor resolution, but I'll throw the Radeon 6870 out for a good GPU recommendation. Better advice requires the info spentshells has already asked.

Im going to use a 1080p monitor and i think i want to go with a AMD GPU. My spending limit is around $900 not including the monitor and other accessories. The only thing i have now is the case.
