Hello,

I cannot access wireless on my computer anymore. The section which used to say view wireless networks in the lower left of my computer is gone. I am able to connect to the internet via a wired connection, but cannot connect via a wireless connection. The computer cannot even view wireless networks in the area. The computer is a Gateway running XP

Go Windows Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and see if the wireless adapter is still listed or is yellow flagged as faulty. Look for any indication of resources clash.

Always worth looking for the latest driver (from Gateway or from the wireless chipset maker) and attempting to install it.

Suggests that there is a fault. Try deleting the entry from device manager and then press refresh (or restart Windows) it may request a driver so have any CD which came with the computer or wireless adapter handy or be prepared to search the hard drive for the driver -- probably to be found in the Windows, System32 folder.
