Looking for 4870 CF Upgrade

Hello.

I currently have two 4870 (512) in CF and while they're still okay, they are beginning to show their age with newer games and I would like to upgrade to something better. I don't want to spend more than 200 bucks on a new card so I suppose you can say that's my budget. I like to play the latest and greatest (like Crysis 1+2, Witcher 1+2, Metro 2033...you know, the 'powerhungry' games) @ 1920x1200 w/ full eye candy. My additional specs are as follows;

CPU: Core 2 Quad @ 3.4
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
PSU: 750W
MOBO: Asus Rampage Extreme

Hello and welcome to the forums
You won't find a faster card than your current setup(within your price range)
2 4870s can handle all the games you mentioned just fine(as for Metro,try running it on DX9)

yep for 200 bucks you cant get a faster GPU(s) than what you have right now.

Well I didn't say I can't run the games, I just said that the cards are showing their age.

So not even a 6870, huh? Darn...

Ah well, thanks for your suggestions. I suppose I'll just wait until I do a full-on rig upgrade later on this year (that's why I didn't want to spend too much on new cards).

Normally two 4870s are faster than a single 6870 or 5870, but since you have 512MB cards there will be some games where a single 6870 would preform better simply because of the extra memory. Even so to make it a more meaningful upgrade you should get at least a 6950 2GB.

I have similar set up but not over clocked at same res. I run a 6950 2gig card and it plays everything maxed out without problem. Money well spent IMO. Stay away from the 560.
