Hi, right now im torn between staying tide and true to amd or going over to intel, so im looking over the fence to see how green the grass is... so to speak. from what ive gathered the fx didnt do as well as the hype suggested, so i was looking at the phenom II x4, the fx x4 or x6, or intell. This will be for a mid range gaming rig that will start with a radeon 6950 and then eventually go crossfire with another.

if my max cpu budget is around $180 what intel cpu would you recommend?

All i can say is that if you never used Intel SB then you would be amazed at the speed of the computer. Its an entirely different world when going from AMD to Intel.

i5 2500k or if you want the SB-E.Try the Intel drug you will love it.
