See now im thinking after reading over charts comparing the 2 processors, that the i5-2500k isn't suitable to my needs! Im thinking that my other choice is going to be better. "Phenom II x6 1100T".

I need some help deciding which processor. Either the i5-2500k or the Phenom II x6 1100T. Then i can look into a motherboard / ram / etc. (Or just stick with the idea i have) ^^.

My needs are:

Cinema 4D (Prefer something with fast rendering)
1080 Video Editing
Photoshop CS5+ Large image editing.
The option to play high end games.

Thats the main requirements.

Sorry :) Here you go.

Approximate Purchase Date:
From now till 19th August 2011

Budget Range:
£550 - £600 GBP

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
3D Work. Including Animation. i.e. Cinema 4D
Imagery. i.e. Photoshop CS5
Website creation. i.e. Dreamweaver / Flash
Video Editing.
High internet usage
Minesweeper

Also would be nice to play high end games! Like CoD etc.

Parts Not Required:
Already have Radeon HD 4650 1gig PCI-E Graphics Card. Not sure if that will work with the new system?

I also already have a 250gig Western Digital Sata HDD, CDrom, mouse, keyboard etc.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
eBay.co.uk
eBuyer

Country of Origin:
My Country? UK

Parts Preferences:
Am used to AMD, but have been told Intel are good for processors. So whatever really.

Prefer a good name mobo. Something reliable.

Overclocking:
Prefer not to overclock.

SLI or Crossfire:
Yes both (Prefered)

Monitor Resolution:
Current: 1440x900 x2 Acer 19" Widescreen LCD's (VGA).

Additional Comments:
Option to upgrade RAM / Processor later on would be good. (So would prefer a mobo with 32gig max support.

Going off the info below. I would like to stick to the case, and 4 - 8 gig of ram would be my ball park. To save money on what i have found would always be a good thing ;)

-----------------------------
Additional info:
I have already sourced the info for the following parts below, but to be honest, i started with the processor, and worked from that. But the i5-2500k has some good bench mark results, however the Phenom II x6 1100T also has some good marks! Although the i5 seems to be "just" better!??!

Not sure if this mobo is a micro atx? Would prefer a normal atx mobo with USB 2.0 / 3.0. Hdmi ports. Onboard hd graphics would be good too. Also a decent onboard sound is good. Just loads of ports! :)

To be honest, im not really sure on this. I looked up a basic £30 PSU. 750watt's?? Have no idea if that will support my needs!

Okay, if you are planning to go for the AMD solution - the 1100T is not as good rated price/performance as the 1090T,
so me personally I would go for the 1090T; if I would go the AMD way.

If you are struggling between the AMD/Intel decision, then it doesn't really matter since you are only using the cpu for video encoding/decoding etc

I would like to support AMD, because Intel atm is dominating desktop cpu, but if you want to wait for the AMD bulldozer series to come out then I would suggest that. My brother has a friend that has a AMD bulldozer cpu (testing etc) he said the amd takes the i5-2500k and rips it a new one..

If you are deciding not to wait, then it really doesn't matter, pick the one you prefer (if your an intel fan > take it)
I am not going to suggest a case and PSU, as the ones you put up is really good, built a few and they are very good.

Intel Setup:
CPU: I5 - 2500k - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/251596
MB: Asus P8P67 - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/260185
Ram: Corsair 2x4Gb - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/248846

~£400

AMD Setup:
CPU: Phenom x6 1090T - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/204933
MB: Asus Crosshair IV - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/206344
Ram: Corsair 2x4Gb - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/248846

~£380

You can put the Phenom x6 1100T in then both systems will be priced very similarly ~£10 difference.

Hope this helps
