I am looking to upgrade my graphics system in my dell inspiron 530. It has the integrated Intel 3100 graphics. do to my budget, I am looking at an Asus Nvidia GeForce 210 with 1GB of memory (on newegg). What I would like to know is, in terms of general performance, will the Nvidia 210 card I am looking at give me better general performance? I Don't do gaming (other than Bejeweled 3 and Mahjong Titans), I watch the occasional DVD. The monitor has a resolution of 1680x1050, my needs are pretty basic. Also, I only have a 300 Watt power supply, and my budget is very limited. Thank you! :)

What is your budget? There are better graphics cards that cost the same as that.

my budget is around $45.00, I would like to go fan-less, if I could. My last video card an Asus radeon HD 4650 low-profile card, the fan died just barely one year old. ( I did buy that card as an open box for 49.00 dollars). Hence the reason why my budget is stuck around the 45 dollar-ish range. Plus I am concern about over loading the power supply, at 300 watts, I think the power supply said at 12volt line at 18Amp? It's a core 2 duo E7200 processor 4Gig memory.

The 4650 is the best price/performance but they all have a fan. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Pretty much twice the performance of a 210. The below $60 range is plagued with all old generation graphics cards with prices that really don't make sense since no one buys them.

so, do you think sticking with the 4650, is my best bet? You think maybe trying a different brand I may have better luck, and what would you recommend? What's your thoughts on the 4670? I'm thinking that might be pushing it with a 300 watt power supply. Thank you for the link! :-)

Thank you for the information, and the graph. Curious, anything on the Nvidia side worth considering?

have you considered replacing the fan on your 4650 with a larger, fanless heatsink? they sell them on Newegg.

When it comes to low end(<100$), AMD rules.

The 5550 and 5570 use a little more or about the same power. The 5570 would be a decent step up from the 4650. But it is $60 and I was looking at the $45 range where the 4650 is. Amazon has the 5570 with free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-HD-5570-PCI-Expre...

The 5550 were pretty much the same price of the 5570 but the 5570 has 80 more spus making it much better. The 5550 is close to the 4650 OC in terms of performance which is why I did not mention to get it. Should have specifically said not to get it.
